100 Days of Things We’re Into

by | Apr 21, 2018 | Inspiration, We're Into It | 0 comments

Have you heard of the 100 Day Project? It’s a free global art project that takes place on social media. We love that this project brings together a group of talented and diverse creatives and encourages them to create something every day for 100 days.

The official 2018 #The100DayProject started on April 3rd, but the date really isn’t important – the founding artist Elle Luna encourages participants to start any day they can. We participated from September–December in 2017. At the time, we felt like we needed an extra push to letter. It may seem silly because we run a lettering business, but sometimes the actual creating part gets lost in the minutiae of the day to day. When you run a small business, there are a million things to do that aren’t your craft, so for us, making a point to practice lettering every day was so amazing! Our first and last posts can be seen here:

Our unique hashtag was #100daysofthingswereinto, and we spent 100 consecutive days lettering things and people that we love. Like Tombow pens, Jessica Hische, and Instagram — the platform on which we shared the project. We chose this theme as a way for our followers to get to know us and our interests a little better, but also as a sentiment to what we thought our business would become when we started it together. When we settled on the name We’re Into It, our original intention was to launch a blog where we shared all the things we’re into. Once we got up and running, we were pulled in many different directions and the blog didn’t end up happening. (But yay, now we’ve finally launched our blog!)

We won’t lie: this project was a challenge! And since there’s two of us, we made it easier on ourselves and divided many of the posts instead of collaborating on each. (We’re so glad we had each other to rely on to complete this!) While simply lettering a word every day sounds like it’d be quick and simple, we also experimented with new lettering styles, took a lot of time planning props and photo sets, shooting each picture, and writing fun captions each day. We definitely pushed ourselves to ensure that each post was great, and for that reason it took quite a bit of time. All we can say is that in the end, the challenge is so rewarding!

You can check out all of our 100 posts below. We’d love to hear what you thought of our 100 day project, and if you’ve ever done one yourself!
