It’s been just over a year since Judy and Hannah were happily wed in beautiful Hawaii. Judy grew up on Oahu, but her and Hannah along with a majority of their guests (including us!) travelled to the island to be with them on their special day. It is so wonderful to be able to watch two of your friends tie the knot, and we couldn’t have been more excited that they asked us to bring their tropical vibe wedding stationery ideas to life!

Save the Date

We presented a few save the date design ideas to Hannah and Judy, and they loved the idea of a postcard style to fit their Hawaiian destination wedding. We created a design incorporating tropical florals, bright colors, and a bold font that feels reminiscent of vintage postcards. Even when we do postcard style designs, we typically recommend that they are sent in envelopes to prevent the cards from being damaged in the mail. The brides chose a bright yellow envelope with printed mailing addresses. And because the postcards weren’t going to have postage affixed, we designed a fun “stamp” that tied in one of Hannah’s greatest loves: books! (Fun fact: one of the other save the date options we had initially design for J&H was made to look like a book!)

Invitation Suite

For their invitation suite, Judy and Hannah wanted to have a more elegant feel with tropical florals and greenery. They opted for an invitation and RSVP card, relying on their website as a medium to provide more details to guests – a great option for those looking to save a little money on postage. We love how these paired with a warm green envelope and felt both whimsical and elegant. 

Day of Details

We continued the use of tropical florals throughout Judy and Hannah’s wedding day details. One of our favorite items we created was their escort cards, in which we printed the florals from their invitation, and hand lettered each guest’s name in gold ink. An oversized frame showcased a hand lettered schedule of the evening’s events, and table numbers sprung from pineapples! 

One of the perks of being both a vendor and guest at your friends’ wedding, is the fun moments and details you get to be a part of. Hannah had always dreamed of getting a morning coffee with “bride” written on the cup, and Amelia was able to make that dream come true beautifully. And Natasha brought our Mrs. & Mrs. bunting to make a very sweet photo happen. Watching the brides use these custom hand lettered vow books was also a treat!

We loved being able to work with Hannah and Judy as they planned their wedding and dreamt up all of the special stationery and signage that made their day uniquely them. But we especially loved their celebration of love – and seriously, they had one of the most touching ceremonies we’ve ever attended – full of love, laughs, and happy tears. Britton and Trevor exchanged vows on a beautiful summer day at the Interlaken Inn, located in their shared home state, Connecticut. Their wedding was inspired by a romantic English garden and each detail celebrated their love and garden party vibe. We were so honored to bring their wedding stationery dreams to life!

Save the Date

Britton was excited to incorporate one of her original lake scene watercolor paintings for her save the date card. We were impressed with her artistic skills and were thrilled to add in some simple brush style typography to complete the look!

Invitation Suite

We continued the watercolor style through to Britton and Trevor’s suite, which included the invitation, RSVP card, and details card. We love that the cool blues and simple design coordinated with the elegant lake and garden vibe of their wedding. The added velvet wrap to keep the cards together in their envelopes made the invitations feel extra special for her guests to open. The envelope colors and brush typography used for the guest addressing finished the suite for a completely cohesive style. 

Day of Details

We carried the watercolor and brush typography look through to Britton and Trevor’s wedding day details. The illustrations featured on the menus added color and an element of playfulness to the table scape. We are always fans of a signature drink, and the sparkling strawberry cocktail was a perfect addition to the garden themed summer wedding. Instead of a guestbook, the couple asked guests to sign their favorite restaurant menus which they then framed and hung in their home.

The year is wrapping up and we can’t help but reflect on the amazing things we’ve accomplished. Our little stationery business has grown so much in the wedding department last year, and we’ve had the pleasure to work with amazing clients and vendors on so many fun weddings. And we are proud to announce that we’ve been named on The Knot‘s Best of Wedding’s list for 2019!

Looking back on 2018, we thought it’d be fun to share some of our favorite wedding projects of 2018. Click through the photos to view more for each project.

Is there a special designer, crafter, artist, maker, DIY-er, or just general creative person in your life? Probably, because those people are awesome! As two creative queens ourselves, we wanted to put together a gift guide of general things we’d love to receive as presents. We actually already own a lot of these, but a creative person will never say no to another awesome set of pens or beautiful sketchbook. (Hint: buy us anything on this list and we’ll be ecstatic!)

1. Leuchtturm1917 Hardcover Notebook – $20

These are our absolute favorite notebooks/sketchbooks. You might consider them the Cadillac of notebooks. We love the dot grid version linked here, which is great for both sketching or jotting down notes. The cover is silky smooth leather and the pages are high quality. It would make an A+ bullet journal, but really any creative could find a use for this notebook!

2. Steal Like An Artist – $10

Austin Kleon has written a super fun book which goes into what nobody tells you about being creative. It’s a quick and fun read, packaged in a cute little square book, but it’s one of those that gets you thinking deeply and inspires you to be the best artist you can be.

3. Kuretake Metallic Brush Pens – $9

Favorite brush pen alert! These are our top choice for fun modern calligraphy projects. We love the juicy brush tips and rich metallic pigment. But these pens aren’t just for brush lettering, and are great for drawing on colored or dark paper.

4. Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Print – $6-20

What’s better than an inspirational print? This modern lettering print will add excitement and encouragement to any creative’s desk, office, or bedroom wall. Pop it in a frame for an extra special touch!

5. Holiday Pantone Sleigh Tee – $30

Designers all know and love Pantone Colors. So why not make them smile with one of these fun holiday-themed Pantone tees?

6. David’s Tea Customizable Mug – $23

I received this mug for Christmas a few years ago, and I loved that I could flex my creative muscles and decorate the mug how I wanted. There are tons of fun mugs out in the world, but sometimes you just want something you can’t buy on the shelves. And David’s Tea makes the best tea mugs – a nice large size with metal strainer and lid! Pair it with some loose leaf tea (this is one of our absolute faves) for a truly special treat.

7. Introduction to Brush Lettering Kit – $55

Kickstart a loved one’s obsession with writing beautifully! Our Intro to Brush Lettering kit includes an in-depth workbook and three brush lettering pens, all packaged nicely in a gift box. The comprehensive workbook includes full instruction on how to begin brush lettering as well as tips and tricks inspired by our experiences lettering and teaching workshops.

8. Micron Colored Pens – $25

These felt tip pens are great for everyday writing and doodling. We love the smooth ink and fine tips, and all of the colors will ensure notes are taken to the next level.

9. 2019 Calligraphy Calendar – $10

A cute desk calendar is always one of those things I love receiving as a gift because I forget to buy it for myself. We created this simple, modern hand lettered calendar to be functional yet pretty, without being over the top. This would make a great stocking stuffer!

10. In Progress – $23

The two of us have been captivated by Jessica Hische since our graphic design school days, when her work opened our eyes to the world of lettering and being a badass design lady who does soul-feeding work. We appreciate that she is honest and tells it like it is, truly sharing details that help lift other designers up. This book details her art and process, and is a great resource for any digital artist, graphic designer, or letterer.

11. Be Bold Zipper Pouch – $10

Natasha got me this pouch, with a cute little inspirational typography quote, and I love it to store pens in. Because there are truly never enough bags/pouches/tins/containers/etc. to hold all of our pens.

12. Embossing Starter Kit – $40

We don’t know any creative who doesn’t love embossing. The process results in adding raised elements to paper craft projects, which look so cool (especially when done in the silver and gold included in this kit). There are a few tools involved, which is why we love this starter kit that includes everything needed to get started: a heat tool, embossing pens, and silver and gold embossing powders.

13. Easy Knitting Kit – $36

Natasha and her mom are both avid knitters, and have taught me how and guided me through projects multiple times. Although I love the cathartic nature and having the ability to make cool knitwear, I just don’t have the resolve to research knitting projects on my own. A knitting kit like this is great for someone like me who would like to knit things, but needs all the materials and guidance to get started.

Whether it’s yourself, your best friend or your mom, everyone’s got a wine lover in their life. Obviously, we both love sipping (ahem, guzzling) wine all year, so we’ve got some fun gift ideas we’d like to share!

1. Marble Wine Cooler – $26

Using a wine cooler – and a modern marble one at that – is a super easy way to go from causal to fancy shmancy. Amelia has one of these and we love using it to keep our champagne cool during our business meetings 😉

2. Relax Greeting Card – $5

This relax card is perfect to pair with a gift any time of year, to tuck a gift card into, or simply to spread some wino love! This is a digital print of our original hand lettering.

3. Bottle Stopper – $5

Amelia got me one of these and it’s just the best. Even if you usually finish your open bottles of wine or champagne, these little stoppers comes in handy much more than you would think. It’s a perfect little stocking stuffer for the lover of bubbles in your life!

4. Wine Decanter – $28

Using a wine decanter is classy AF – but also super easy! We love the design of this one, especially since the shape allows for easy pouring and minimal red wine spilling.

5. Bring Me Wine Socks – $10

I got these for my mom last Christmas and she just adores them. She loves wearing them when my sister and I are home and drinking wine together. We get a good kick out of how funny they are!

6. Wine Tumbler – $14

Wine on the go! These insulated tumblers are great for wine and other beverages – keeping them hot or cold while preventing condensation from your hands. The lids are dishwasher safe and leak proof, yay! Plus look at all the fun colors to choose from.

7. Metallic Wine Glass Pens – $9

These are a super fun idea for hosts or housewarming gifts! They are easy to use, come in a bunch of colors, will stay on for the life of a party, and wash off with warm soapy water. Amelia and I each have a set of these and we love inspiring our guests to hand letter their names 🙂

8. Wine Is A Grocery Print – $6-$20

This quote makes us smile as wine is always on our grocery lists! It is a print of our original hand lettering with a gorgeous burgundy gradient. It’s perfect for framing in the kitchen or above a bar cart area!

9. Red Wine Stain Remover – Set of 3 for $23

Yup, spills happen. And if you’re like Amelia and I they happen too often! I bought the three pack to share with my mom, sister, and I and we use it more often than we’d care to admit. I swear it actually works – I’ve used it on carpets, white pants, and sweaters – to name a few!

If you’re anything like us, you have a bunch of food lovers in your life. We both love eating and cooking, and that love can be seen in a lot of our work. Our foodie greeting cards and prints were actually some of the first items we were inspired to make and sell, and have remained top sellers over the past few years! But aside from cards and prints, there are so many items that as foodies ourselves we own and love, or are planning to buy for the food lovers on our list this year.

1. Foodie Love Greeting Cards – $5 each

These cards are perfect to pair with a gift, to tuck a gift card into, or simply to spread some foodie love. Does your loved one like cheese, pizza, or veggies the most!?

2. Microplane – $15

When I asked Natasha what her favorite kitchen tool is, she excitedly told me: microplane! It’s great for garlic, ginger, and topping food with cheese (which is obviously where her microplane gets the most use).

3. Flour, Too Cookbook – $25

Everyone in the Boston area knows that Flour Bakery has some of the best food around. Joanne Chang, Flour’s owner, brings some of her most delicious recipes for baked goods and savory treats into this cookbook for the home cook. And we can attest – everything we’ve made has been so good! I love getting this cookbook for both people who have been to or have yet to go to Flour in person.

4. Dipped Wooden Kitchen Utensil Set – $18

Everyone can use beautiful utensils in their home kitchen! After just hosting Thanksgiving, I realized that I have a lot of utilitarian kitchen utensils, and not enough beautiful serving utensils. And I’m obsessed with the color options and paint dip on these handcrafted goods. (Everything in the shop is so fun and modern!) I’ll be buying these as gifts for some people on my list – anyone want to buy me a set? 😉

5. Beginner Cheese Making Kit – $30

Did you know that making cheese at home isn’t actually that complicated!? I received this cheese making kit as a gift a few years ago and was so excited to learn how to make my favorite food at home!

6. Cheese Slate – $22

Ok, so I’m on a cheese gift kick here. But who doesn’t love cheese? We love that slate is chalk friendly and you can label items right on the surface they sit on. A great gift for a true host with the most to show off their lettering skills while serving up a delicious platter of cheese!

7. Food Lover Prints – $6-$20 each

These prints would be great in any food lovers’ kitchen (or really any room for that matter). We love the hand lettered quote along with colorful, fun iconography to truly make a statement!

8. Citrus Juicer – $19

My favorite unnecessary kitchen tool is hands down the citrus juicer. This is one of those items that you don’t need (you can just squeeze your lemons or limes with your hands after all), but now that I have one I can’t live without it! Not only does it save me from squeezing citrus juice all over myself, but it also much more effectively gets all the juice from the lemon or lime. And as a bonus: it catches the seeds so they don’t fall into your sauce or cocktail or vinaigrette or whatever else your adding citrus to.

9. Punny Dish Towels – $17 each

We love when something makes us lol, and look how cute these are! Because who couldn’t use a dish towel with a good joke or pun, and also a cute illustration for good measure?

10. Pizza Floatie – $20

For the foodie who loves to hang at the pool, lake, or beach, a pizza floatie is definitely in the cards! Help your loved one become the talk of this year’s floatilla 😉

Why is it that holiday shopping creeps up on us every year? November quickly turns into December and we all end up frantically searching for perfect gifts for our loved ones. 6. Smartphone Tripod – $23

We love this compact tripod for when we’re traveling! The flexible legs make it easy to set up your phone on uneven surfaces so you can use your camera timer to take group photos anywhere. We also have fun using this to capture time-lapses of those gorgeous vacation sunrises and sunsets.

7. Packing Cubes – $20

These are a game changer. Like I don’t know how I packed before using these awesome cubes. You can organize by clothing type or outfits to make unpacking super easy when you get to your destination. They are also a life saver for separating dirty laundry. They come in at least 15 colors so there’s a set for anyone on your list!

8. Scratch off World Adventures Map – $26

How fun is this map?! It has a gold scratch off surface to reveal a colorful world map to keep track of states and countries that have been visited. We love that this is designed and printed in the US!

Looking for the best midnight snack or secret local gem? This book has it all, from 5 star restaurants to hole in the wall diners, there’s something delicious for everyone to explore while traveling. Yum!

10. Luggage Scale – $13

This is one of those “I didn’t realize I needed this until I had it” gadgets. If you (or your loved ones) are like us, and tend to overpack only to then try standing on your scale holding a suitcase to see how overweight your bag is then this will make your life much easier. It is very accurate and super easy to use!

11. Google Photos – FREE!

Amelia has been using Google Photos for years and holy shit are they are life saver. Super easy to set up and gives users free, unlimited storage for photos up to 16 megapixels and videos up to 1080p resolution. Never worry about deleting photos on your phone to free up storage again!

12. Turkish Towel – $24

These 100% cotton towels are highly absorbent and dry very quickly, light in weight and take up little space, making them the perfect travel companion. Loads of colors to choose from you should probably get one for yourself too!

13. Portable Charger – $26

Running out of phone charge when trying to take photos or use map navigation while traveling is THE WORST. This compact charger stores enough juice to charge your phone at least twice and comes with an 18-month warranty. Whoop!

14. Not All Who Wander Are Lost Print – $6-$20

Another one of our fun travel prints for a gallery wall! We love the message behind this quote, and it’s available in our Etsy shop in three sizes.

Lauren and Andrew became husband and wife on a gorgeous day in historic Danvers, Massachusetts. The love between these two radiated throughout their whole day as they celebrated with their closest friends and family. We were honored to work with them to bring their wedding stationery dreams to life!

Invitation Suite

Since Lauren and Andrew were getting married on an early summer day in coastal New England, hydrangeas and pale blues were perfect design details to showcase. With the multiple cards the couple planned to include in their invitation suite, we enjoyed playing with the florals and modern calligraphy to create a cohesive and simply beautiful look. And of course the wedding party bouquets coordinated perfectly!

We chose cool grey envelopes to pair with the blues of the suite which included the invitation, RSVP card, and details card. We also created a coordinating rehearsal dinner invitation for the couple’s family and wedding party to attend. All these were held in place with a simple piece of tied twine before being tucked into their envelope.

We always love the special touch of hand lettered envelopes and the pop of white lettering on these was just perfect. To make these envelopes even more unique we added a matching hydrangea liner, setting the tone of Lauren and Andrew’s wedding from the first moment their guests opened their invitations.

Day of Details

We carried through the hydrangea and modern calligraphy look to Lauren and Andrew’s wedding day details. The couple gifted their guests with a welcome bag complete with a coordinating sticker. We also had fun chalk lettering a welcome sign for their ceremony. To complete their ceremony, we designed a cohesive program for their guests to enjoy.

You know when something really cool happens and you’re just so excited to share? Well, we are SO EXCITED to share that two of our prints are featured in the November 2018 issue of HGTV magazine! Our hand lettered “OMG” and “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” prints are in this month’s Say It With Art story – which is so so cool.

What’s also awesome is that they contacted us out of the blue. One of HGTV Magazine’s editors reached out to us a few months ago to purchase our prints and ask if they could be featured in an upcoming issue. Obviously, the answer was yes. We have both been HGTV fans for as long as we can remember, so we were thrilled!

We weren’t sure when the issue would come out, or how our prints might be featured, so we kind of put in the back of our minds since then. Then about two weeks ago, our sales for both prints spiked, and we figured our work must be printed and out in the world!

We tracked down the magazine (which is available pretty much anywhere that magazines are sold), and might have literally jumped up and down with excitement. We are so into the “Say It With Art” article that our prints are a part of. We are honored to be amongst all these other amazing prints and artists that are featured!

Maryellen and Chris got married on a beautifully misty New England day. Despite Mother Nature’s attempt to rain on their parade, these two couldn’t have looked more radiant. We loved working with them to create an elegant and sophisticated look for their stationery, which complemented their classic style and beautiful venue.

Invitation Suite

Maryellen knew she wanted to showcase our hand lettered script to create a simple yet unique invitation suite. While she wasn’t sure at first if she’d like any additional design details, she ended up falling for the greenery option we proposed. We love that the watercolor greenery adds a pop of color and intrigue to our beautiful taupe calligraphy! It also tied in perfectly with the couples’ wedding day florals: classic white flowers with pops of green.

The taupe calligraphy and greenery carried throughout the invitation, RSVP card, and details card. All of the pieces were brought together with a matching belly band and inserted into a dark green envelope.

For the envelopes, we used gold ink to allow the hand lettered addresses to really pop. And one of our favorite design details on this envelope is the greenery patterned custom liner. We love when we get to design elements of an envelope that carry through the look and feel of the items inside – it is the first thing guests see after all!

Day of Details

Maryellen and Chris’s wedding day details kept all of the same design elements as their invitation suite for a perfectly cohesive look. We love when couples have this attention to detail! The reception space was open, elegant, and light-filled, allowing guests to focus on the florals and designed pieces on display. We tied the greenery design into all of their pieces, including hand lettered escort cards, table numbers, a ceremony program, and signage. But the showstopper was this glass welcome sign surrounded by beautiful florals. So lovely!
